The online expo, Africa Travel & Safari Show, held on February 28, was well received with 248 delegates having virtually attended the event on the day, which featured 15 exhibitors.
Natalie Cumberlege, Online Expos Business Development Manager and show organiser, said she was pleased with the number of attendees recorded, and thanked the speakers who provided an interesting line-up of talks.
Out of the 248 visitors, 67 were international, 116 South African, and 65 from other African states.
People are still able to access the show at www.africatravelandsafari.show – where they are able to visit stands, download and watch exhibitor content, and listen to speakers on demand. The live engagement element will be missing, however, contact details can be found on the stands.
Speaking on the success of the show, Shafig Kanji, Travel Agent at Cruxton Travel UK, said: “I am speechless. It was fantastic, way better than visiting an actual tourism event in person.”
On behalf of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association, COO, Hannelie Du Toit added: “A big thank you from Satsa for the great online event. Everything ran smoothly, the interaction was great, and we have had good feedback subsequently.”
“Our delegates found the platform easy to use and a far more efficient way of gathering African travel information,” explained Cumberlege.
“We are looking to focus shows more targeted on time zones. While we were happy with the US turnout, for instance, we believe we could greatly increase participation by rather focusing a show on the US zone and holding it to better accommodate the US-Africa time difference.”
Cumberlege said the team were looking forward to hosting the next African inbound show Luxury Travel Africa on July 25.
