Escape to Shashe Wilderness Camp, a hidden gem nestled on the eastern banks of the Shashe River. Managed by Wildlife Environment Zimbabwe, this camp offers a unique back-to-nature experience for those looking to truly disconnect and immerse themselves in a serene, wild environment.
Set amongst a stunning grove of huge riverine trees, the camp is a haven for birdlife and overlooks the dramatic, wide expanse of the Shashe River. Since 1976, the camp’s primary mission has been environmental education for children, and this heritage infuses the place with a sense of purpose. Today, it warmly welcomes anyone—from solo travellers to groups of friends—who appreciates peace, tranquillity, and the simple beauty of the bush.
Please note: This is a rustic, shared facility camp focused on community and connection with nature.
The camp is located about one kilometre north of the National Parks reception, making it an excellent base for exploring the surrounding wilderness area. Please be aware that there are no hotels or self-catering lodges in the immediate vicinity—this is a true wilderness experience.
