Kanga Camp is a unique, eco-friendly safari retreat nestled within a private concession in Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe. Set on the remote islands of the Kanga Pan, this untouched wilderness paradise offers an unspoiled, authentic safari experience that stands apart from the traditional riverside camps of the park.

Remote Wilderness Setting:
Situated on the remote islands of Kanga Pan—apart from the distant Zambezi River, Kanga Pan serves as the sole water source during the dry season—this camp offers an intimate and unspoiled wildlife experience away from the more conventional riverside camps in Mana Pools.

Accommodation

  • The camp comprises six Meru-styled tents, each raised on a wooden platform to offer elevated views over Kanga Pan. These tents are simple yet elegant, boasting floor-to-ceiling mesh windows that allow ample natural light and a refreshing breeze. They are fully equipped with an en suite bathroom—including a flushing toilet, outdoor showers with hot running water—and a secluded veranda.
  • Family Tent: Kanga Camp also features a family tent with wraparound terraces facing the pan, offering private seating and dining areas. Guests can relax in the upper deck lounge under the shade of a mahogany tree or on the lower deck near the splash pool, enjoying uninterrupted views of Kanga Pan’s hyperactive watering hole—the perfect “armchair safari.”

Things to Do:
Kanga Camp is ideally placed for exploring the diverse landscapes of the area, which include Mopane woodlands, Jesse bush, riverine forests, and multiple vlei lines. Guests can enjoy game drives, bird watching, and walking safaris with knowledgeable guides who share their deep love and understanding of the bush. In collaboration with Zambezi Expeditions, visitors also have the opportunity to experience canoeing and fishing on the Zambezi River.

Seasonal Operation:
Due to challenging access during the rainy season—when dry riverbeds fill with water from the escarpments—Kanga Camp operates only during the shoulder and dry seasons, from April through November.

In summary, Kanga Camp offers a truly authentic, eco-conscious safari experience in a pristine wilderness setting, making it an ideal retreat for travellers seeking an intimate connection with Zimbabwe’s natural beauty and wildlife.
