The Farmhouse Lodge provides the ideal location from which visitors can discover the many activities to do in the Matopos. Guests can participate in many activities offered in the Matobo Hills, including the popular rhino walks, mountain biking will enthuse the more adventurous, whilst a leisurely sunset game drive gets you to relax and soak up the scenery.
Conducted in open Safari vehicles, take a leisurely drive in search of the game living on the wildlife reserve. As dawn breaks, capture some wildlife photos with a sunrise backdrop and return for a hearty breakfast. The sunset drive leaves late in the afternoon to view the animals coming to the waterholes for the last drink of the day. Finnish with your sundowner drinks, snacks and a short night drive home.
Visit the interesting cave paintings found at the Farmhouse lodge. Take a leisurely guided hike to paintings that have been around for 10,000 years. Look for Black eagles along the way. The Matopos is renown for its concentration of Black eagles often seen soaring above in search of their main food source, the Rock Hyrax.
Follow the wildlife trails with one of our guides, for an informative walk through the African bush. Visit either the Bushman cave paintings, ancient grain bins or Iron Age iron smelter. Track the wild animals to try and approach on foot.
Your own activity, where you can climb the rocky outcrop behind the Farmhouse Lodge. When reaching the top, you are greeted by spectacular views of the Matopos National Park.
This popular trip takes you into the Game park section of the Matopos National Park. Game viewing in open safari vehicles, whilst looking for fresh Rhino tracks. Follow the spoor with a chance to approach the Rhino on foot.
Matobo Hills is an ideal mountain biking territory. Ride the challenging dirt trails and rocky paths to get your exercise for the day. Visit the Farmhouse Lodge in the Matobo Hills for a unique mountain bike experience.
Farmhouse Lodge Matopos is a proud supporter of Geocaching! The Farmhouse lodge has two caches located on the property; a ‘traditional cache’ and a ‘multicache’. If you would like to find the multi-cache a small fee is charged as it requires (a lot) of walking throughout the reserve. Bikes can be hired at an additional cost. This cache is not for the faint-hearted!
